Ole Miss will head to Baton Rouge this weekend and attempt to remain undefeated when they play LSU. At 5-2, the Tigers are more than capable of giving the Rebels problems. However, it’s their home-field advantage could be what really gives them an edge and Lane Kiffin knows it.

Kiffin spoke about playing inside Tiger Stadium during his press conference on Monday. He took note of how other teams have stumbled while making the trip to Louisiana now and in years past. Plus, based on his experiences there, he knows their home crowd will play a part in the game’s outcome.

“We’ve just got to stay focused, play each play, and do your job. A lot of teams have performed not very well there,” said Kiffin. “They’ve got a great winning record over the years. Their crowd understands football and is into it as much as any place that you go. (I’ve) played some really challenging games there.”

Kiffin has made several trips down to LSU over the last decade. He went in 2014 and 2016 while on Alabama’s staff and lost 53-48 during his first trip down there with the Rebels in 2020.

Tiger Stadium has averaged an attendance of over 100,000 people in the four home games during the first season of Brian Kelly’s tenure. Regardless of who the coach is and how well the team is playing, the LSU fanbase will be raucous and ready. Considering they had over 102,000 there for their matchup versus a Top-10 Tennessee team, earlier this month, Ole Miss can expect the same as they No. 7 team in the country. That’s exactly why Kiffin is getting his group ready earlier for what should be a wild environment on Saturday afternoon.
