Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is one of the best-paid coaches in Division-I football but even his salary couldn’t prepare him for his daughter’s spending spree at Zara. Kiffin’s reaction to the final bill, totaling more than $700, went viral on his daughter’s TikTok.

The Rebels’ skipper discussed his near-heart attack reaction on ESPN’s First Take.

“That just shows daughters being daughters,” Kiffin said. “So, I asked the one daughter what she spent when she came with the bag and she said she didn’t know, which is typical, she has no idea. So my other daughter made sure to say exactly what she had spent.

“We were half-joking too,” Kiffin admitted, “but that store’s gotten a lot off pub off of that because everyone keeps telling me that’s their favorite store and that it’s actually not that much to spend there. Myself, probably like a lot of dads and men, we don’t really know what stuff costs out there. Or at least that’s what women say to us, ‘You don’t know what they cost,’ so that’s a line I keep getting.”

Regardless of the price tag, it’s nice to see Kiffin spending time and making great memories with his kids before the grind of the season starts. Ole Miss starts 2022 with all four non-conference opponents before getting into the meat of the SEC schedule.

Kiffin explains how he quantifies 2022 success

At SEC media days, Lane Kiffin explained how he’d define success for the Rebels in 2022, following a dominant 2021 season.

“I don’t put a number, you know, ever. Win this many games–cause there’s so many variables that happen throughout a season,” Kiffin said.

“So, success is just doing the best we can, developing our players on and off the field, and a lot of times, obviously, the outcome of the scoreboard, and the wins losses. But, sometimes, you can have successful years and the kick goes in versus out, or the ref doesn’t see the ball hit the guy’s hand on a kickoff return. So, you know, as coaches it’s hard to do, but to look at how well did we really do. Not just the record.”

2021 was one of the best seasons that Ole Miss has had in program history. They finished second in the SEC West, won 10 games, and played in the Sugar Bowl. If it wasn’t for an injury to star quarterback Matt Corral in the Sugar Bowl, then there is a good chance that Kiffin could have led the Rebels to their first Sugar Bowl win since 2015 and just their second since 1969.

2022 is going to be a difficult year for the Rebels to repeat that success, although they have the 14th toughest schedule of the 14 SEC teams. The program is going through massive roster turnover, including losing Corral to the NFL. However, Kiffin is using the transfer portal to patch holes.
