LOOK: Lane Kiffin gets fired up on Ray Lewis quote
Following a big win over Tennessee which featured one of the more bizarre endings in recent memory, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is wasting little time trying to fire up his team for a date with LSU this weekend.
On Tuesday morning, Kiffin tweeted a photo from the weight room with a quote from former Miami Hurricanes and Baltimore Ravens star Ray Lewis.
“I’m pissed off for greatness because if you ain’t pissed off for greatness, that means you’re okay with being mediocre,” the quote reads.
Lewis was a two-time Super Bowl champion and NFL Defensive Player of the Year who holds the NFL record for most career tackles with 2,059. He was a first-round pick in the 1996 NFL Draft and played his entire professional career in Baltimore.
Kiffin’s Twitter remains a focal point of college football social media
Tuesday’s tweet was not the only time Lewis appeared on Kiffin’s Twitter account this week. Early Sunday morning, Kiffin posted this Bible verse.

Just over 30 minutes later, he posted the same quote and attributed it to Lewis.
Kiffin’s Twitter is typically a bastion of inspiring quotes throughout the week, garnering the attention of many football fans. In addition to famous football faces, Kiffin recently posted tweets from Mark Twain, Winston Churchill and Mother Teresa.
Kiffin will welcome Ed Orgeron, a friend from their USC coaching days, to Oxford on Saturday and will try to snap a five-game losing streak to the Tigers. LSU is coming off its best win of the season over Florida, but there are obvious distractions around the program after the Sunday announcement that Orgeron would not return to Baton Rouge after the conclusion of the 2021 season. The matchup has added intrigue considering Kiffin’s name has been floated as a possibility to replace Orgeron.
CBS will have the game at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, and Ole Miss is a 9.5-point favorite as of Tuesday morning.
