Lane Kiffin has hilarious interaction with TV reporter lookalike
The SEC Media Days can be a grind for coaches and players going through the car wash of various interviews, but every now and then there’s a moment that cuts through the tension and offers some real hilarity.
Lane Kiffin was provided such a moment when a reporter stood up and informed Kiffin that people always say they look alike, wondering if Kiffin saw the resemblance.
“That was the longest question (before), that’s the strangest question,” Lane Kiffin said, a smile breaking out.
Then the Ole Miss coach entertained with an answer.
“Do you get called Daniel Tosh too? I get that actually, too,” Kiffin said. “I’ll be walking somewhere and somebody will be like, ‘Are you Lane Kiffin?’ And I’ll be like, ‘No, I hate that dude, he sucks.’ It’s really cool because the conversation’s over and you can keep moving.”
The tactic is one that has been parroted by at least one of Kiffin’s children, too.
“It’s run down to my daughter, she does it now,” Kiffin said. “She’s like, ‘I don’t like all the attention because of the last name,’ so people will be like, ‘Are you Landry Kiffin?’ She’s like, ‘Nope, I’ve heard bad things about her,’ so she’s kind of learned that trick too.”
The reporter who asked Lane Kiffin the question then engaged in a little back and forth, to which Kiffin provided some absolute gold.

In a mostly inaudible response from off screen, the reporter mentioned something about his mother. Lane Kiffin pounced.
“What’s your mom’s name?” Kiffin said, looking up slowly as a massive grin covered his face. “I’ve got to ask my dad some questions now.”
But hey, looking like a sitting SEC head football coach can’t all be bad, right? I mean, presumably you want to avoid Starkville, but outside of that there are probably some perks.
The Ole Miss coach encouraged his new reporter doppelganger to cash in.
“I would just embrace it,” Lane Kiffin said. “You can probably get free drinks at places and stuff, just depending on what state in the SEC you go to. … I’m sorry that you get paired in with me. But I would embrace it. I would just go with it.”
