Lane Kiffin jokes about Ole Miss fans early field-storming attempt: 'Might as well be two fines'
The Ole Miss Rebels pulled off one of the bigger wins of the Lane Kiffin era on Saturday. They took down the Georgia Bulldogs and did so rather handily, prevailing 28-10. Fans in Oxford were so excited to storm the field, they took off while 16 seconds were still on the clock. There will definitely be one fine coming from the SEC. But in his postgame press conference, Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin joked the fans might be fined twice.
Lane Kiffin on field-storming
Kiffin was impressed with the stadium environment before the game on Saturday.
“I remember in warmups in Georgia. And I even said to Kyle, man, wish our place was like that in warmups. I mean, when we were at Georgia it was rockin’ 30 minutes before the game. And today, I felt the exact same way. We were in warmups. We were playing videos. The crowd was into it on introductions. Some guys and stuff. And I look up and there’s still whatever, 25 or 30 minutes until the game,” Kiffin explained.
“So, it was really cool to have that. And great for the players. They feel like it’s a big-time game. You know, when the fans are there early like that. Kyle had us not do the walk. Because he said there was rain coming. And it did rain during the walk. So, maybe the fans were more excited to see us because they didn’t see us on the walk,” Kiffin continued.
Ole Miss fans actually stormed the field twice on Saturday. And the Rebels’ head coach had jokes.
“Might be two fines, Keith, because they actually stormed it twice. And that money goes to Georgia, because we got LSU’s money. They were excited. They were passionate. I wish they woulda waited. But sometimes I don’t think that they know it’s fourth down and the clock stops. It is what it is. Awesome environment,” Kiffin continued.

“I’m sure this party in the ‘Sip will go on for definitely over 24 hours,” the Rebels head man said.
The Ole Miss defense stepped up and in a big way, limiting Georgia to just 59 rushing yards and 186 passing yards, while forcing Carson Beck to throw an interception. It’s huge for the Rebels’ College Football Playoff hopes and it’ll certainly be fascinating to see how they finish the rest of the way.
