Lane Kiffin opens up on postgame moment with daughter after win vs. Georgia
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin had a heartfelt moment with his daughter Landry Kiffin after the Rebels pummeled Georgia 28-10 this past weekend. The two embraced on the field, celebrating the huge win for Kiffin and Ole Miss.
During his press conference on Monday, Lane Kiffin was asked about the moment he shared with Landry. He revealed that it meant a lot to him.
“It was a cool moment. I really got caught up in all the stuff and just for her to hug and say, ‘You know, Pops would be really proud of you,’ it was just a special moment,” Lane Kiffin said.
Landry was referring to Lane’s father Monte Kiffin, who died back in July.
Lane Kiffin went on to share that the two had another cool moment after leaving the field. He and Landry Kiffin reflected on a couple of years back when Lane nearly left for the Auburn job, but Landry convinced him to stay.
“I ended up, when she was upstairs here, just kind of thinking, too, and thanking her,” Lane said. “A couple of years ago when, I think it’s kind of documented, the Auburn decision, and staying here. She had said during that decision process, ‘Hey, I just got here.’ When she had moved here to live with me to go to Oxford High. And then she was coming to Ole Miss and just said, ‘Don’t leave me now.’

“So it was just kind of cool how things happen. So I just thanked her, because those moments wouldn’t have happened.”
It’s safe to say that Lane Kiffin feels like he made the right decision now that his Ole Miss team is rolling along at 8-2 and just earned the biggest win of the Kiffin era this past Saturday. The Rebels are also right in the thick of the College Football Playoff hunt.
The win over Georgia was special for Lane Kiffin for several reasons, including the embrace and time he got to spend with his daughter after the victory.
