Lane Kiffin posts touching reaction to daughter, Presley's volleyball commitment to USC
Lane Kiffin is heading back to California and the USC Trojans, or at least he will soon have reason to be there from time to time. Recently, the Ole Miss Rebels head coach received some exciting news as his daughter, Presley Kiffin, announced that she would be committing to play for the USC women’s volleyball program.
And as any proud Papa Bear would, the Rebels’ head man and former Trojans head coach took to social media to share his excitement about his daughter’s news.
Presley Kiffin made her commitment announcement via social media, posting the following message alongside a photo of herself dawning the apparel of her new college home.
“I am beyond grateful to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at the University of Southern California. A huge thank you to the USC coaching staff for this amazing opportunity. I want to thank all my coaches, family, friends, and especially @mizunolongbeach for their incredible support and guidance throughout the past couple of years. [I am] so excited to be a Trojan! FIGHT ON,” Presley Kiffin said via Instagram.
Given Lane Kiffin’s history with USC, his daughter becoming a Trojan makes perfect sense. The Ole Miss headman was in California as a part of USC’s coaching staff from 2001 to 2007, under national championship-winning head coach Pete Carroll when his daughter was born.
Shortly after her birth in 2007, Kiffin got his first head coaching opportunity with the NFL, becoming the head coach of the then-Oakland Raiders at 32.

From there, the Rebels head coach would have his fair share of stops throughout the college football landscape after parting ways with the Raiders in 2008. However, the Los Angeles area would remain the family’s primary home base, allowing Presley Kiffin the opportunity to hone her volleyball skill set at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, CA.
Kiffin addresses the hiring of Zach Arnett
After less than a season as the head coach at Mississippi State, the Bulldogs fired Zach Arnett. Now, in-state rival Ole Miss and its head coach Lane Kiffin made the decision to bring Arnett in as a staffer on the team.
The decision to hire Arnett is one that Kiffin has since addressed while speaking to media members.
“I’ve had a lot of respect for Zach and thought they did a great job over there in Starkville during his time on defense and caused people problems,” Lane Kiffin said. “And, so, had been in discussions. Actually, today I think is his first day.”
Zach Arnett’s role with Ole Miss’s football staff is set to be as an analyst. That’s an off-field coaching role.
