Lane Kiffin responds to Alabama mascot's popcorn trolling
After Lane Kiffin‘s pre-game interview with Jamie Erdahl, Alabama had some fun at his expense. With the game out of reach, Big Al trolled Kiffin using popcorn, in response to Kiffin’s “get your popcorn ready” mic drop.
While Alabama fans sang along to Dixieland Delight in the fourth quarter, Big Al was seen dancing in the Alabama end zone — with a large popcorn box prop around the waist of the costume.
Following the troll and subsequent loss, Kiffin is taking things in stride. Today, the Ole Miss head coach took to Twitter to wish the Crimson Tide good luck.
“Now that’s funny! Good,” tweeted Kiffin. “Alabama — good luck, stay healthy, and see you next year.”
Kiffin appreciates a good troll, even when he’s the butt of the joke. While the Ole Miss head coach dishes it out, at least he can take it when the joke’s on him.
While many believed Kiffin’s squad could give Alabama fits, it wasn’t to be on Saturday. The Crimson Tide dominated the Rebels, racing out to a 28-0 halftime lead before sending Kiffin home with a 42-21 loss.
ESPN analysts criticize Kiffin
Before halftime even rolled around, it appeared that Lane Kiffin burnt his popcorn. Ole Miss was getting crushed by Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Alabama quarterback Bryce Young has completed 11 of his 15 first-half pass attempts, good for 101 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. Ole Miss’ offense, by comparison, looked good for the first half of the first possession of the game. However, it was all downhill afterwards.
On the Rebels’ first possession, Kiffin called two gutsy plays on consecutive fourth downs, opting to keep his offense on the field and go for it. Both times, it worked; however, on the ensuing three fourth-down attempts, Kiffin again decided to go for it — and all three attempts failed, giving Alabama favorable field position.
“Georgia and Alabama saying, ‘you all ain’t ready yet, Arkansas and Ole Miss,’” ESPN college football analyst David Pollack tweeted in the first half. “There’s levels to this game.”
Pollack made it seem like Alabama and Georgia are simply a step above Arkansas and Ole Miss. That may be true, but perhaps the two SEC powerhouses are above everyone this season.
