Lane Kiffin reveals how freshman running back Quinshon Judkins has surprised him
Quinshon Judkins has made a name for himself early at Ole Miss. The freshman running back from Pike Road, Alabama is the team’s leading rusher with the second most carries on the roster. While the staff knew he could be great, Lane Kiffin admits that Judkins’ production has surprised him early on.
Kiffin commended Judkins through his first two games after the Rebel’s win over Central Arkansas. When you combine his physicality and vision, Kiffin sees the freshman as a very unique back. He says his high expectations for his roster have also made Judkins’ play even more impressive.

“Yeah and I don’t usually say (I’m surprised) about any of these guys because we have high expectations,” said Kiffin. “I knew he was special. We knew he was physical but his vision is really unique.”
Judkins has rushed for 191 yards already through Ole Miss’ two wins on 24 rushes. He has one rushing touchdown to his name as well as one catch for 18 yards.

Between him, Zach Evans, and Ulysses Bentley IV, Lane Kiffin now has a much deeper running back room than he thought. He realizes how unique each part of the trio is and how dynamic they can end up making the Ole Miss offense. With questions at QB still for the Rebels, these three give Kiffin and Ole Miss at least one part of their offense they don’t have to worry about.
“We got three special guys,” said Kiffin. “It’s not too often you’re in the game scoring at the end with a back that was First Team All-AAC two years ago so it’s a really special room.”
Competing with two top-tier backs says a lot about Judkins already. With those two eventually headed out, this will eventually be his backfield. If he keeps playing like this, though, it might be his sooner rather than later.
