Ole Miss was blown out by Georgia last season, falling 52-17 in Athens. Lane Kiffin will find out on Saturday just how much progress his program has made since then.

Kiffin joined SportsCenter on Friday and shared the keys to beating Georgia when the Rebels host the Bulldogs Saturday afternoon.

According to Kiffin, one of the keys is not making the game too big.

“We’ve gotta prepare really well. We’ve got to go to this next meeting, next walk through, do a really good job,” Lane Kiffin said. “And then come out and play the best team in the country for four quarters. That means coaches and players have got to do a lot of things well in order to put ourselves in position to win.”

Ole Miss is 7-2 (3-2) on the season entering Saturday’s game against Georgia. The two losses were both by 3 points. As for the Bulldogs, they are 7-1 (5-1) and coming off a less than stellar outing against Florida.

Despite that, Lane Kiffin believes Georgia is without a doubt the best team in the country. Kiffin believes that the Bulldogs are at their best once they get rolling, and Ole Miss must ensure that big runs don’t take place.

“I think we’re going to have to control when they have their runs. You know, this is a great team,” Lane Kiffin said. “You saw what they did when they got down at Alabama and how they started the Texas game. So we’re going to have to handle those runs when their great players make plays.”

Saturday’s game between Ole Miss and Georgia is huge as far as making the College Football Playoff. Georgia is currently No. 3 in the CFP rankings, while Ole Miss is No. 16. If Lane Kiffin can lead the Rebels to a win, it would greatly improve their chances of reaching the CFP.
