Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss have a game against Texas A&M to worry about, but he took notice of Alabama’s game against LSU Saturday.

Joining College GameDay Saturday morning, Kiffin was aware of the implications of the Alabama-LSU game. He didn’t hide his feelings of who he was rooting for either.

Basically, it was a drop-the-mic moment for Kiffin as he signed off GameDay.

“They told me I’m supposed to root for LSU so, go Tigers,” Kiffin said.

Ole Miss’ only loss this season is to Alabama and should the Rebels run the table, they have a chance to win the division and get to the SEC Championship Game.

Ole Miss already beat LSU and should the Tigers beat Alabama, well, that would cause a three-way tie atop the division. Chaos right?

After host Rece Davis busted the chops of Kiffin a little, he fired back.

“I needed that because you guys are sitting there in Tuscaloosa feeling good doing (your) own little (thing),” Kiffin said. “(You’re also doing) McAfee shows … I see how you guys got the rat poison thing. Have fun in Tuscaloosa.”

With all of that in mind, Ole Miss has College Football Playoff aspirations, should it break the Rebels’ way.

“We don’t even discuss that ranking,” Kiffin said Wednesday on his weekly appearance on the SEC teleconference call. “It means nothing until the final one. If we don’t keep winning, none of those rankings matter. We’re focused on playing really well each week, like we try to do no matter what month it is.”

Makes sense, considering Kiffin didn’t want to look past Texas A&M and Jimbo Fisher’s crew.

“This has to be the most talented 5-3 team ever,” Kiffin said. “It’s just completely loaded with players everywhere. There’s matchup concerns. These guys are first in the country in sacks.  We’re going to have to play really well, prepare really well, be creative and think outside the box to have a chance to beat these guys for a third time in a row.

“They have a great program and do a phenomenal job, obviously, of raising money and getting great players. So, I don’t have any issues with them. One of the top programs in the country. You have two great coordinators calling plays with (former Ole Miss defensive coordinator) DJ Durkin and Bobby Petrino. And with those great players, it’s a recipe to be really good.”
