Lane Kiffin shares hilarious story of meeting commissioner Greg Sankey's wife
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin continued his fun appearances at SEC media days with a story about meeting commissioner Greg Sankey’s wife. Kiffin mentioned that he met her while in Omaha for the College World Series, and that he asked her if she sometimes feels like she has “another child” with how often Sankey gets mad at him.

While speaking with Paul Finebaum on the Paul Finebaum Show, Kiffin was asked if there was anything he didn’t get to talk about during his media availability on Monday that he was hoping too. Kiffin explained that he didn’t miss out on anything he was hoping to talk about this year, and that normally you prepare with plenty of advance time before the questions come so you’re normally hoping to get set up on certain topics.
Finebaum then joked that Kiffin was silenced by the commissioner during SEC meetings in Destin earlier this year — taking place immediately after the war of words between Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher kicked off a national NIL discussion.

“That is true,” said Kiffin, laughing. “No, I had just gotten let out. The commissioner was good. He actually tells the story, he was just joking when I saw him because I saw him as we were winning our baseball national championship, before the game in Omaha, and met his wife, I said, ‘Do you feel like sometimes you have another child? You know, sometimes he grounds me.’ So he said his wife has been telling that story for a month.”
Sankey may have to keep tabs on Kiffin from time to time — including telling him he wasn’t wearing a tie before his appearance on Finebaum’s show — but it’s clear that his personality has made him a favorite with the Sankey family.
