Lane Kiffin shares update on Ole Miss team doctor after sideline collapse
Ole Miss battled through Saturday’s game against Oklahoma, coming out with a good win at home. One Lane Kiffin needed to get back on the right track following a tough result against LSU. The home crowd in Oxford surely enjoyed the performance too as they will welcome Georgia to town soon.
However, there was a scary moment during the game as a team doctor went down on the sideline. Kiffin provided an update on the situation, saying the doctor is doing well. No specific information was given by the head coach but overall, a good update.
“He’s doing much better,” Kiffin said. “That’s obviously awesome. He’s an integral part of our program but just a great person in the community, helps so many. So, that’s awesome.”
The moment occurred early in the fourth quarter with Ole Miss already up 26-14. ESPN’s Bob Wischusen described it as a “medical emergency” after coming back from a commercial. paramedics were on the scene and thankfully there to help.

“There is apparently a medical emergency down on the Ole Miss sideline that, as we speak, paramedics are attending to,” Wischusen said during the broadcast. “So the football game takes a back seat to a real-life emergency down on the Ole Miss sideline, as it seems either an assistant coach or a member of the Ole Miss support staff has gone down on the sideline and is surrounded by EMS personnel. So we will step aside and come back as soon as we can to Oxford.”
Coming back from another commercial break, the doctor was shown walking into the Ole Miss locker room alongside medical officials. Walking under his own power was a positive sign at the time.
Hopefully, there is enough progress made to get back on the sideline for a big-time showdown against Georgia in Vaught Hemingway Stadium.
