Eli Manning took to Twitter on Saturday to rib his brother Peyton Manning for backing out of a potential Ole-Miss Tennessee Manningcast. The two former NFL quarterbacks have taken the league by storm this season with their separate broadcast for Monday Night Football games.

The idea of the Manningcast is to provide a more laid-back version of the typical broadcast. When the brothers get together, it is far more informal with jokes flying all around.

“It is kind of like you are watching the game at a bar and me and Eli show up and watch the game with you,” Peyton Manning said, per ProFootballTalk. “[That] is kind of the theme. We are not going to be in a booth. With my forehead and my neck, I couldn’t fit in a booth. I can fit on my couch at home and Eli can be on his couch. But we are going to watch football.”

Eli attended college in Oxford playing for the Rebels, while Peyton went to Tennessee. The sibling rivalry likely would have been amped up a bit for this contest between SEC foes. The schools are set to face each other at 7:30 p.m. next Saturday in a home game for Tennessee.

Ole Miss (4-1, 1-1 SEC) is coming off of a thrilling 52-51 victory against Arkansas in Week 6. The Rebels escaped with the win after the Razorbacks failed a two-point conversion that would have won the game.

Tennessee (4-2, 2-1) rolled over South Carolina 45-20 for its second straight conference victory. The Volunteers offense has looked revitalized this season under first-year coach Josh Heupel. The game against the Rebels is a huge test for a program fighting to regain some national relevancy.

ESPN’s official release pegged the Manningcast audience for Week Two at 1.9 million. With a total audience of 13.8 million viewers across all platforms (ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN Deportes), that’s 11.9 million for the ESPN and ESPN Deportes audience combined. (The ESPN Deportes audience is low, in the range of 50,000.) The Manningcast is currently getting roughly 13.7% of the total audience.

A Manningcast between Ole Miss and Tennessee likely would have garnered the same attention. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear like we’ll get that gift.
