There are just 10 days before Ole Miss concludes its season in New Orleans, and the team dropped a teaser hinting at the uniforms the Rebels will don against Baylor in the Sugar Bowl.

The only thing visible in the picture is red gloves and gray face masks with a touch of what appears to be a light gray or white helmet.

The Rebels are known for shaking up their uniform combinations, so they will surely look good for their final showing of the 2021 season.

Matchup to watch: Ole Miss offense vs. Baylor defense

This year’s Sugar Bowl features two of the brightest minds in college football at their respective positions: offensive guru Lane Kiffin and defensive architect Dave Aranda. Both head coaches are in their second year at their schools.

The Rebels are led by Matt Corrall, the only quarterback in the country with both 3,000 passing yard and 500 rushing yards. Baylor’s pass defense has shown vulnerabilities, and Big 12 defensive player of the year Jalen Pitre will look to keep Corrall in check for his final college game.

Aranda’s scoring defense is second in the Big 12 this year and 10 points better than the 2020 defense. This year they are giving up just 19.2 points per game, and that number was 29.2 in 2020 when they finished the season 2-7.

On the other side of the ball, Ole Miss has one of the worst run defenses in the nation, and Baylor has one of the best running backs. The Rebels have allowed 182.2 rushing yards per game this season, which is 102nd in the country.

Baylor’s offense is led by Abram Smith, a running back turned linebacker and ultimately converted back to running back for the 2021 season. Smith is averaging 6.2 yards per carry, which leads the Big 12 among rushers with at least 100 attempts. In total, he has 1,429 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season.

The Rebels are 10-2, and the program has never had an 11-win season. This will be their 10th Sugar Bowl appearance, which is fourth all-time behind Alabama, LSU and Georgia. They are 9-3 in the New Orleans-based bowl.

Ole Miss is a 1-point favorite in the final bowl game of New Year’s Day. The Sugar Bowl kicks off at 7:45 p.m. CT on ESPN.
