LOOK: Ole Miss unveils new helmet ahead of Week 1

It is officially uniform reveal time, and the Ole Miss Rebels unveiled their helmets ahead of their Week 1 matchup against the Troy Trojans in Week 1. The white helmets are similar to the helmets they wore in the 2022 Sugar Bowl, but this one has navy on it instead of the powder blue color.

The Rebels are expected to wear navy tops and white bottoms for the matchup against Troy.

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin recently joked about a video from a Tennessee Double-A baseball team where fans threw mustard bottles at his likeness. The Tennessee Smokies, a Double-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, had fun at the Rebels head coach’s expense when they let fans throw a mustard bottle at a likeness of Kiffin over a plastic skeleton.

The video showed kids throwing the bottles from a decent distance away, as one hit Kiffin’s picture that was taped to the skeleton’s head — knocking the head clean off the body.

“Glad that kid wasn’t in Neyland last fall,” joked Kiffin as he shared the video on his own Twitter. “[Paul] Finebaum get him on the show see if he can hit me from 40 rows up. #JustMeansMore.”

Kiffin has become one of most fun faces in the SEC with his personality — and apparently one of the most fun to throw things at for rival schools. Kiffin was the head coach of the Volunteers in 2009, and it’s clear that the Tennessee area still aren’t huge fans of his.

The moment was a great example of SEC rivalries and minor league baseball mixing together, as the Smokies held the promotion in good fun. The video they shared was captioned simply, “Lane Kiffin is not welcome in Tennessee.”
