Former Louisville guard Koren Johnson has committed to Ole Miss out of the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Johnson originally entered the portal on March 28.

He averaged 3.0 points, 2.5 assists and 1.5 rebounds for the Cardinals throughout the 2024-25 season. Johnson played in just two games for Pat Kelsey.

Johnson transferred to Louisville this past offseason, after two seasons with the Washington Huskies. He expected to expand upon his impressive 11.1 points per game that he averaged during the 2023-24 season, but he suffered an injury to his shoulder that forced him to miss almost the entire year while playing in the ACC.

He revealed on social media shortly after the injury that he would be taking a redshirt season and undergo surgery to repair the ailment. That means he has two more seasons of eligibility as a redshirt junior starting this coming season.

Before college, Johnson played high school basketball at Wasatch Academy (Seattle, WA), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 126 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.

He’s now set to join an Ole Miss team that finished with a 24-12 record, including 10 wins against a tough SEC field. The Rebels, under head coach Chris Beard, defeated both North Carolina and Iowa State, the latter being an dominating upset win, reaching the Sweet 16 before being knocked out of the tournament by Tom Izzo’s Michigan State Spartans.

The Rebels will look to further push that glass ceiling this coming season, and Johnson could be a key piece to that effort. He will need to rest up and get healthy before that happens, though.

As of Wednesday, March 26, over 1,250 Men’s College Basketball players had entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. That number is expected to grow now that the 2024-25 college basketball season has reached its conclusion.

The transfer portal wire provides a real-time feed of player activity, including basic player profile information, transfer portal ranking and original On3 Industry recruiting ranking, as well as NIL valuation (name, image and likeness).
