One of the hottest names throughout the coaching carousel has been Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin. He’s been linked with top SEC jobs such as Florida and LSU, and even the Oklahoma and Miami job.

However, on Sunday, Kiffin signed a contract extension, keeping him in Oxford until after the 2025 season. Details from the new deal have begun to emerge, with a few of the coaches’ possible bonuses being revealed as well.

According to Ross Dellinger of Sports Illustrated, Kiffin’s starting salary will be bumped up to $7.25 million and will be increased by $100,000 after every season. By the 2025 season, the head coach will be making $7.55 million by 2025.

Assistant coaches are just as important as the head coach himself. The salary pool is important to attract the best of the best. Ole Miss will be giving Kiffin a minimum of $3.5 million to work with to fill up his coaching staff. In fact, he could be looking for a new offensive coordinator soon with Oklahoma reportedly looking to hire offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby.

Ole Miss has installed some bonuses into Kiffin’s contract, with one paying out $100,000 for a win against non-SEC Power Five schools. He will get paid $150,000 for each win against an SEC team starting with the fifth SEC victory of the regular season.

Finally, Kiffin can get paid big time by the Rebels if he helps sell them some season tickets. According to Dellinger, if Ole Miss sells at least 40,000 season tickets, the head coach can get up to a $200,000 bonus.

Kiffin calls out Ole Miss fans

Just because of bonus is on the line does not mean Kiffin will suddenly begin to care about Ole Miss’ home attendance. Ever since he became the head coach, he has been trying to get more people into Vaught Hemingway Stadium.

Kiffin said whenever there is not a big-time crowd for home games, it hurts the Rebels in the recruiting. He called out the Ole Miss faithful multiple times throughout the seaosn.

“It depends on which game they have come to,” Kiffin said when asked if recruits have enjoyed trips to Oxford. “We have kind of heard both. We haven’t been at capacity so that is important. I think it’s hard for fans to understand that. Not just your current players, obviously, like this one Senior Day. Them having energy and not seeing empty seats but recruits and people recruit against you.

“That’s recruiting. You show pictures of your stadium. If you’re playing in a big game and its not full, they use that against you. It’s very important for stadiums to be full, especially when you’re in the SEC trying to recruit and play at a high level.”
