Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss coaching staff can’t seem to decide on a quarterback for the season. So allow sophomore tight end Michael Trigg to give his assessment. After all, the USC transfer has actually caught passes from both guys, Jaxson Dart and Luke Altmyer, this season.

In fact, Trigg has caught nine total balls for 61 yards and three touchdowns. Both Dart and Altmyer have a great ally in the pass game with Trigg lined up at tight end. So which of them does he prefer to pass to him? The emerging sophomore was asked that exact question several times by media after last Saturday’s game. But Trigg brushed off answering who was better, saying both were good and the rain was a factor.

“I mean, the rain didn’t help. So I mean, you really didn’t get a good judgment for it. But I mean they both played good in my opinion. Luke started the game off good. Jackson came in there good.”

Then a reporter pushed him asking how they both looked as potential long-term starters.

“I mean, pretty good to me if you ask me. I mean, I feel like we took a step forward as a team, honestly. Like I don’t know who took a bigger step, but I feel like we took a step together.”

Even another reporter pressed Trigg on the QB competition, asking him who he has a better connection with.

“I mean, we get so many reps with both of them in practice, so it’s like second nature, honestly. So like Lane prepares us for that by…what game would you like to have just one quarterback…or are you okay going the whole season if you have two rotating quarterbacks. Well, that’s not my decision. So that’s on Lane.”

Michael Trigg doesn’t seem to prefer one passer over the other. Why should he? The sophomore tight end is producing regardless of who is in.
