WATCH: Mike Bianco shares special first pitch moment with father ahead of game vs Delaware
Sunday provided a special moment between father and son ahead of a baseball game between Ole Miss and Delaware. Rebels coach Mike Bianco stood behind home plate before the game, ready to catch the first pitch from his father, Ron.
The elder Bianco wound up and delivered a perfect throw to his son, getting the crowd ready for the start of the game. The two shared a hug afterward. You can view the pitch below.
A former baseball and football player at Delaware in the 1960s, Ron Bianco won back-to-back national titles with the football team in 1962 and 1963. He wore a Rebels jersey while throwing out the first pitch to Mike Bianco on Sunday, but still supported the Blue Hens by sporting a Delaware hat.
Sunday was the final game of a season-opening series between Ole Miss and Delaware. The Rebels won the first two games and completed the sweep with a 14-4 victory in seven innings.
After going 1-0 after the first inning, Ole Miss scored seven runs in the second to jump out to a commanding 8-0 lead. That included a grand slam from shortstop Jacob Gonzalez as well as a two-RBI home run from left fielder Kemp Alderman.

Xavier Rivas got the start at pitcher for the Rebels and picked up the win. He did 4.1 innings of work, allowing just one hit and one run while striking out eight. Ole Miss finished with 14 hits and three home runs. Gonzalez led the team with seven RBI, while Alderman was 3-for-5 in his appearances at the plate.
Ole Miss is the defending national champion after taking out Oklahoma to win the College World Series in 2022. The Rebels enter the season as the No. 4 team in the country according to D1baseball.com looking to defend that title. So far they’ve gotten off to a good start, beginning the year 3-0.
They’ll hope to keep rolling when they next face Arkansas State at 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday. After that, Ole Miss begins a series against Maryland on Friday.
