Ole Miss DL Joshua Harris announces plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
Ole Miss defensive lineman Joshua Harris has entered his name into the transfer portal.
Harris made the announcement that shared those intention on social media on Friday.
“First, I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play the game I love. I thank him for bringing me to Ole Miss to meet great coaches, teammates, trainers, staff, and overall community,” wrote Harris. “I want to thank the Ole Miss Football program for helping me get to the point that I am at now, for believing in me, and pouring into my athletic abilities. I truly am grateful.”
“All things considered, I would like to announce that I have officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal for my last year of eligibility,” Harris wrote. “I’m excited for what God has in store.”
Harris arrived in Oxford after starting his career with four years at NC State. Now, after his fifth season overall and only one with Ole Miss, he will be seeing a new program for his last collegiate year.
Harris has appeared in 51 games with the Wolfpack and Rebels. In total, he has totaled 40 tackles, 4.5 going for a loss, and a sack. That includes 13 tackles this past season for Ole Miss with three coming against Mercer the opener and four in a win against Texas A&M.
Harris played high school football at Person as a native of Roxboro, NC. He was a four-star prospect there and the No. 257 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also rated as the No. 34 DL and the No. 11 player out of his state.

Harris is the one of the first losses for Ole Miss in the spring portal window. This comes after they lost 15 players from last season’s roster, 10 on offense, four on defense, and one kicker, to transfers.
However, the Rebels were one of the bigger winners of the portal coming into next season. They added 17 players that make up the No. 3 class per On3’s 2024 Team Transfer Portal Rankings. It includes five players in the Top-100 of On3’s 2024 Transfer Portal Top Players, including three, Walter Nolen (No. 2 overall, No. 1 DL), Princely Umanmielen (No. 12, No. 2 EDGE), and Juice Wells (No. 20, No. 3 WR) in the Top-20.
