WATCH: Ole Miss drops hype video ahead of Egg Bowl matchup on Thanksgiving night
The stage is set for one of the biggest games of the season for college football fans across the state of Mississippi. Ole Miss and Mississippi State are set to square off in one of the more intense rivalries in all of college football–the Egg Bowl. Check out the hype video Ole Miss dropped on Wednesday night, narrated by former Rebel star A.J. Brown.
You can listen to the audio from Brown in the video or check out the transcription below.
“You want to be a legend? Well, here’s your opportunity. This ain’t a game. This is war. It doesn’t matter where you come from. You are Ole Miss. You are the flagship of this state. You run the ‘Sip. Show this state what you’re made of. There are no distractions. The goal is right in front of you. So, take it,” Brown said.
This highlight video is annually one of the best that the Rebels’ social media team puts out each year. The atmosphere surrounding this game is a huge part of what makes college football rivalry games so special. The Mississippi state flag. The highlights of the previous games in the series. The passion surrounding the game. Rivalry games like the Egg Bowl and everything surrounding it are massive reasons why college football will always be the very best.
The storyline that has dominated the chatter surrounding this year’s version of the Egg Bowl is not on the players, but the question of whether or not Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin will leave Ole Miss for Auburn. Plenty of people in the national media believe Kiffin will take the job with Auburn, despite his recent denials. If Kiffin were to lie and say that he wasn’t leaving for Auburn, only to leave a few days later, he certainly wouldn’t be the first head coach in college football to do so and he won’t be the last. That’s been a time-honored tradition that head coaches in big-time college football and college basketball have practiced for several decades.

Ole Miss and Mississippi State both have plenty of talent
While there will be plenty of chatter surrounding Kiffin, both teams feature plenty of talent and this should be a highly competitive Egg Bowl matchup. Mississippi State features two record-setters on both sides of the football. Quarterback Will Rogers and defensive back Emmanuel Forbes, Jr. Both have already stamped their marks in Mississippi State football history and Thursday night’s matchup provides yet another opportunity to further cement their legacies in Bulldog lore.
Ole Miss has a pair of running backs are among the best in college football and Quinshon Judkins is likely to be a top Heisman Trophy candidate heading into the 2023-2024 college football season. His freshman campaign stats have been unbelievable–1,385 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. He’s carried the Rebels on his back all season long and a big-time performance before a nationally televised audience on Thanksgiving night would be a great way to kick off his Heisman campaign for next season. Judkins just eviscerated the Arkansas defense last weekend to the tune of 214 rushing yards and a touchdown on just 24 carries (8.9 yards per carry) in a 42-27 victory.
It should be an exciting matchup. Ole Miss won last year’s matchup 31-21 and they’ve won two of the last three in the rivalry. Ole Miss currently leads the overall series between the two rivals, 64-45-6.
