Ole Miss drops hype video ahead of matchup with Texas A&M
The Ole Miss Rebels are fired up for this weekend’s matchup against the Texas A&M Aggies and this one is certainly personal for Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin and Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher. On Friday night, the Rebels dropped an epic hype video narrated by one of the greatest receivers in school history, Elijah Moore.
Ole Miss has been quietly having a very impressive season. Their only loss thus far came to Alabama and the Rebels currently sit at 7-1 overall.
Rece Davis makes his pick in Ole Miss vs. Texas A&M
Texas A&M at No. 10 Ole Miss should be quite a matchup in the SEC West this weekend. It’s also looking to be a potential mess based on how Rece Davis sees things going down in Oxford.
Davis made his pick for Aggies vs. Top-10 Rebels during the ‘College GameDay Podcast’ on Thursday. While he does get a whiff of a slip-up coming for Ole Miss, he doesn’t feel that much better about it considering the struggles of this specific opponent.
“This is a mindset game more than anything else. Everything in me wants to go along with Steve (on Texas A&M),” Davis admitted. “It’s like the old Digger Phelps thing – he’d go, ‘I smell it! Smell the upset, smell it!’ I smell it, I smell Ole Miss faceplanting here in this.”
“But the stronger part of me? I think, against A&M? It was like A&M came in there a couple of years ago, couldn’t get it done. Should have, kind of sloppy on offense, couldn’t finish drives,” recalled Davis. “I think the Ole Miss defense is pretty average at best but A&M’s offense has been far from fixed.”
If nothing else, Davis believes this game will get some needed juice from some recent Lane Kiffin comments. Whether it was an intentional shot or not, he thinks it could light a fire under both sides, specifically for A&M.

“I think there will be a lot of consternation in College Station, particularly after Lane Kiffin sort of, in ‘low-talking Lane’ mode. Giving them the little jab about, ‘Well, we’re back around the Top-10. You’d think, with all of those NFL guys, they’d have been Top-10 but they’re trying to get bowl eligible. We’d like to stop them from that’. It’s like, ‘Okay, wow!’” said Davis. “It was pretty funny. I don’t know how intentional it was or if he just sort of started talking and didn’t stop.”
Truthfully, in the end, Davis doesn’t have much faith in either Texas A&M or Ole Miss. However, since he had to pick, he leaned the way of the home team and selected the Rebels to win their eighth game, cover the spread, and have a chance at College GameDay coming with them to No. 2 Georgia next weekend.
If that wasn’t bad enough for the Aggies, though, Davis also made sure to say that he expects the Aggies to effectively give what would be their sixth win of the season up in the most brutal way possible.
“I don’t really totally trust either of these teams. But I think I’m going to go Ole Miss and say they at least set up a potential GameDay situation in Athens next week,” said Davis.
“I’m going to go with Hotty Toddy and say that they win it 24-20, likely because A&M’s driving for the win and fumbles, drop kicks the ball out of bounds, something on fourth down, snaps it over the quarterback’s head,” Davis said. “Something will go wrong and they’ll snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.”
