WATCH: Ole Miss drops hype video ahead of spring practice
Ole Miss football dropped a new hype video less than 24 hours before the Rebels take to the practice field for the first time this spring.
The video features a compilation of reporters hyping up the program, and it features the voice of On3, JD PicKell. He had high praise for Lane Kiffin and his group ahead of the 2023 college football season.
“They have pushed the envelope, and they have done a phenonemal job adapting quicker than I think a lot of other programs have and that’s why they’ve been as successful as they have at Ole Miss,” Pickell said in the video.
The clip was a part of PicKell’s show, The Hard Count on On3’s YouTube page. The video was on the Rebels’ quarterback room following the commitments of Spencer Sanders and Walker Howard while bringing back 2022 starter Jaxson Dart. Here is the full quote from PicKell on the Rebels QB room:
“Where coaches have seen headaches, Lane Kiffin sees opportunity,” PicKell said. “A lot of coaches at first are saying that the portal is bad and this needs to happen differently — they have pushed the envelope, and they have done a phenonemal job adapting quicker than I think a lot of other programs have and that’s why they’ve been as successful as they have at Ole Miss.

“I think they’ve seen opportunity, they’ve taken advantage of it and for Lane Kiffin, he should be commended. Especially if this works out in a sense where he gets the most out of Jaxson Dart, or the best out of Spencer Sanders. Or Walker Howard for that matter. Competition breeds excellence.”

During National Signing Day, Kiffin expressed his excitement in his quarterback room this year. He said there was a bit of concern just from the fact that he has three starting quarterbacks on his roster, but it is his job to put together the best roster each season, and couldn’t pass up on two of the best quarterbacks in the portal.
The first time Dart, Sanders and Howard will be seen in action alongside (more accurately, against) each other will be the Rebels’ spring game as they compete for the job. The 2023 Grove Bowl is set for Saturday, April 15 at 2 p.m. CT inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium
