LOOK: Ole Miss football dresses up Jaxson Dart as Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars
Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart is a huge fan of the highly popular movie, Star Wars. Reporters found out how much he loved Star Wars last year when he played for the USC Trojans, after he was asked why he wore the single-line, vertical eye-black every game. It turns out he does it because he’s a huge fan of Anakin Skywalker. He likes to try and morph into Skywalker on gamedays.
Check out the picture that Ole Miss dropped.
Last year when he was at USC, reporters asked Dart if the single-vertical eye-black would continue. “Oh yeah, it’ll definitely continue. I started it in high school,” Dart said. “I saw a LSU DB have it one time and I was like, man that looks really cool. And then, I’m a big Star Wars guy…Me and my friends kind of change into Anakin Skywalker. He’s got the scar. And so now, I just go out there and kind of just correlate to Anakin Skywalker (Laughs).”
In On3’s Class of 2021 prospect rankings, Dart was rated as the second-best quarterback in the country and as the sixth-best overall prospect in America. He earned an endless number of accolades coming out of high school, including Gatorade National Player of the Year.
While we’ve seen plenty of flashes of his skill the past two seasons and it’s easy to be mesmerized by his beautiful spirals, he still needs to cut down on the interceptions. Dart has completed 62.2 percent of his passes thus far for 697 yards, while tossing five touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s just a sophomore, so there’s plenty of time for him to progress and develop.

Against Tulsa, he flashed his dynamic running ability, rushing for 116 yards on just 13 carries (averaging 8.9 yards per carry). His senior season of high school football at Corner Canyon (Draper, Utah), Dart ran for 1,195 yards and 12 touchdowns on 128 carries. So, the dynamic running ability has always been there for him. It’ll be interesting to see how much Ole Miss and head coach Lane Kiffin uses that this season.
The Rebels currently sit at 4-0 on the season, but their competition early on this season has been light and that’s putting it nicely. They’ve faced the Troy Trojans, the Central Arkansas Bears, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
Ole Miss will get their stiffest test of the season yet when they face off against the Kentucky Wildcats on Oct. 1. Kickoff is slated for noon EST.
