Lane Kiffin reacts to mustard bottle callback by Tennessee fans
Mustard bottles made another appearance in Knoxville as Tennesee took on Notre Dame in a baseball Super Regional. It was thrown onto the field after center fielder Drew Gilbert was ejected for arguing balls and strikes alongside pitching coach Frank Anderson. Social media was instant to react to the moment but none funnier than Ole Miss football head coach Lane Kiffin.
As if he could go anywhere else, Kiffin took to Twitter to comment on the mustard bottle being thrown in Lindsey Nelson Stadium. He noticed something was missing, though, citing the golf ball that was thrown at him at Neyland Stadium.
“Mustard bottle thrown on field after Tennessee’s Drew Gilbert ejected,” Kiffin said. “@Vol_Football where is the golf ball?? @Vol_Sports“
Tennessee baseball has trolled Kiffin with the mustard bottle already this season. After hitting a home run against Ole Miss, they used the condiment to celebrate after Kiffin threw out the first pitch that night.
Both sides have been able to joke about the original incident on social media, showing there are no hard feelings.
Tennessee ended up losing their first game against Notre Dame and will now have to win two games in a row to advance to the College World Series. They will be doing so without Gilbert, at least for Game 2, after picking up a suspension. Anderson will miss three games and if the team goes to Omaha, he will not be in the dugout for the opening matchup.

Lane Kiffin trolls Tennessee during baseball game
When Ole Miss and Tennessee met back in March, it was an important matchup between top five teams. However, the star of the show was Kiffin when he trolled the Volunteers during the ceremonial first pitch.
In this past season’s matchup between the two teams in football, Tennessee fans threw objects onto the field towards the Ole Miss sideline, even striking Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin with a golf ball. Bottles of mustard were also among the objects that found themselves on the field of play.
Kiffin threw out the first pitch on Friday night prior to the start of the game. He used a golf ball instead of a baseball. Ole Miss tweeted out a video of the first pitch, reminding everyone about the mustard that was also thrown out on the field.
Not even Kiffin could hide his excitement, smiling throughout the entire process. As usual, he remains the college football troll king on Twitter.
