Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin and college football insider Paul Finebaum had a hilarious back-and-forth at SEC Media Days regarding Alabama head coach Nick Saban.

While on the podium, Kiffin accused Finebaum of giving added motivation to Saban every year by doubting his team in a variety of ways, even saying that he’s ‘pissed him off’. Which obviously is not ideal for Kiffin and the rest of the SEC coaches that have to face Alabama.

Finebaum had a response to Kiffin’s comments, which ESPN’s Matt Barrie shared with Kiffin when he joined him on ESPN’s ‘SportsCenter’ from SEC Media Days in Nashville.

“He took a shot at me in one of the radio rooms about writing Nick Saban off, I mean come on. Lane just has to find a target so when you get him here in a few minutes please give him my warmest greetings,” Finebaum said.

Finebaum may have had some warm greetings for Kiffin, but they were not reciprocated, as he doubled down on his take from before that Finebaum pokes the bear that is Saban to the detriment of Kiffin and the rest of the conference’s coaches.

“I’m a Finebaum guy, so I don’t know why he’s coming back. I’m just stating the facts of what he does with Saban and it doesn’t help us,” Kiffin said. “He just pisses Saban off because he says his dynasty’s over every year and that coach when he loses all these players to the NFL and coaches that it’s over, and then coach goes and proves him wrong.”

Kiffin even kept his receipts from another quip that Finebaum made earlier in the day, providing a hilarious mic drop moment to end his interview with Barrie and likely his playful back and forth with the SEC Network host.

“So I don’t know, I mean they just told me he was over there yelling about me losing five in a row,” Kiffin said. “We only lost four in a row but you know, come on Paul get your facts right before you take shots.”

Lane Kiffin jokingly thanks Paul Finebaum for ‘pissing off’ Nick Saban

Much of the conversation at this year’s SEC Media Days has centered on juggernaut Alabama and whether the Crimson Tide dynasty is over as we know it. Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin just rolls his eyes when he hears that talk.

He’s seen this song and dance before, even blaming a friendly face in the media for tossing Alabama and coach Nick Saban a bone.

“It’s why we have Finebaum, so he can motivate him every other year and say, ‘Oh, his dynasty’s over and this is the end of Saban,’ and we’re like, ‘Hey, thanks a lot, you pissed him off,’” Kiffin said. “And Paul’s always wrong on this. He just did it again the other day. ‘He didn’t make the playoffs, he’s not any good as a coach.’ Thanks, Paul.”
