Ole Miss hires former Texas Tech quarterback as assistant coach
The Ole Miss Rebels have officially added former USC assistant coach Seth Doege as an analyst, according to On3’s Matt Zenitz. Doege was a former quarterback for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Last season, he coached the tight ends for the USC Trojans. He will join former USC signal-caller Jaxson Dart in Oxford.
Doege was also an offensive quality control analyst for the Trojans in 2019 and 2020. He was a major piece of USC’s recruiting efforts and played a critical role in the team landing a pair of top-100 quarterbacks in their 2021 recruiting class, including Jaxson Dart. In 2020, former USC receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was named a first-team All-Pac-12 selection.
Doege played quarterback at Texas Tech from 2009-2012 and started his final two seasons. As a junior in 2011, he completed 398-of-581 pass attempts for 4,004 passing yards, while tossing in 28 touchdowns. He set an NCAA completions percentage record against New Mexico when he completed 90.9 percent of his passes (40-of-44) against New Mexico. He also led the Red Raiders to a stunning upset over No. 3 Oklahoma.

In joining Ole Miss, Doege will get to join three of the most coveted offensive prospects in the 2022 Transfer Portal, quarterback Jaxson Dart, tight end Michael Trigg, and running back Zach Evans. Dart was the No. 2 overall prospect in the transfer portal, according to the On3 Transfer Portal Rankings. The Ole Miss Rebels will be expected yet again to make some noise in the SEC with Dart as their trigger man. He’ll have the tall task of replacing one of the best quarterbacks in Rebel history in Matt Corral, who is expected to be a first-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Ole Miss reeled in a ton of top talent from the portal
Dart chose Ole Miss over Oklahoma and BYU. Not only will Ole Miss have Dart and Trigg, they’ll also have former TCU running back Zach Evans, who transferred to the Rebels this off-season. He was rated as the No. 7 overall prospect in On3’s 2022 Transfer Portal Rankings and the electrifying tailback will be expected to make a major splash for Ole Miss this fall.
