Ole Miss lands former ACC defensive end
The Ole Miss Rebels are on a role with transfer additions heading toward the late signing period. Now, 6-foot-6, 275-pound, former Georgia Tech defensive end Jared Ivey is also heading to Oxford to join Lane Kiffin. Ivey will enroll on Monday, according to On3’s Matt Zenitz.
Ivey played in 17 games in two seasons at Georgia Tech before entering the portal. As a freshman, he started two games, posting eight tackles and one tackle for loss. This season, he played a bigger role for the Yellow Jackets, totaling 32 tackles with six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one pass defended and one forced fumble.
After entering the transfer portal on Friday, Ivey quickly headed from Georgia Tech to Ole Miss for a visit. He shared a photo from the visit with Kiffin on Twitter with the hashtag #cometotheSip.
In his original recruitment, Ivey was a four-star prospect according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He chose Georgia Tech over offers from Tennessee, Miami, Notre Dame, Nebraska, and others.

Ole Miss adds another transfer
Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin have been very active in the NCAA transfer portal this offseason.
The Rebels, so far, have landed TCU running back Zach Evans, Auburn safety LaDarius Tennison, Auburn defensive lineman JJ Pegues, Iowa State safety Isheem Young, Louisville wide receiver Jordan Watkins, Central Michigan linebacker Troy Brown and Western Kentucky offensive lineman Mason Brooks.
After those additions, defensive end was still a big need for the Rebs. They lost talent in the front following the 10-3 season, most notably defensive end Sam Williams, a second-team All-American. Williams finished the year with 12.5 sacks, which was good for second in the SEC and fourth in all of FBS. He had a sack in nine of 13 games. Jared Ivey will step in with immediate eligibility and four years to play three seasons.
