Ole Miss on verge of top-20 class after Davison Igbinosun commitment
Union (N.J.) four-star safety Davison Igbinosun wants to play in the SEC. He is going to get that chance with Ole Miss.
Igbinosun, despite testing positive for COVID and having to quarantine in his room in San Antonio, announced his commitment to the Rebels in between the first and second quarter at the All-American Bowl.
With the announcement, Ole Miss moved from No. 26 to the No. 21 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking.
The Rebels under Lane Kiffin may be known for its explosive offense, but the team has put an emphasis on defense in the 2022 recruiting class. Five of the team’s six four-star recruits come from the defensive side of the football.
Igbinosun is the second-highest rated commit in the class behind Madison (Miss.) Germantown four-star defensive lineman Zxavian Harris.

The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – has Igbinosun as the No. 193 overall player in the country and No. 14 safety in the land. He is also the top player from the state of New Jersey.
On3 rates Igbinosun as the No. 128 overall prospect in the 2022 On300 ranking.
Despite missing most of the week with COVID, Igbinosun made an impression on On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power.
“The defensive back group at the All-American Bowl was especially ravaged by COVID protocols,” Power said. “With that said, Davison Igbinosun caught our eye on the first day prior to being ruled out for the rest of the week. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder has good stature and length to go with the versatility to play multiple spots in the secondary. We saw Igbinosun line up at a few different spots in Tuesday’s practice. He had one of the better plays on the day, coming down with an interception on a tipped pass.”
