Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart announces return to Rebels for 2024
The Ole Miss Rebels’ offseason just keeps getting better. After a terrific round of transfer recruiting wins, on New Year’s Day, starting QB Jaxson Dart announced his return for next season.
Dart finished the 2023 season with a career-high 3,364 yards and surpassed the 3,000 mark in the Rebels’ impressive Peach Bowl victory over Penn State. In his first season as then Ole Miss starter in 2022, Dart recorded 2,974 passing yards and 20 touchdowns to 11 interceptions. This season, those figures improved to 23 TDs and just five picks.
Here was that post from the Rebel QB1:
Dart’s decision isn’t a massive surprise, especially after he spoke so glowingly about his coaches ahead of the Peach Bowl game.
“The basic thing is I have a great support staff around me that’s able to give me really good advice,” Dart said. “I have great coaches. Obviously my family is amazing, and I have great friends on the team.”
A current CBS Sports mock draft conducted by five NFL Draft experts did not have Dart in the first round. He’s likely a Day 2 prospect, something that likely led to him coming back. Perhaps he can build his first round case for 2025 next fall.

Players will have the opportunity to solidify their draft stock at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from February 26 through March 4.
The three-day event will be broadcasted throughout the weekend on ESPN and NFL Network.
To be eligible for the NFL Draft, players must be at least three years removed from their final year of high school while having used up their collegiate eligibility. Underclassmen are able to request league approval to become eligible for the draft, as are players who have graduated prior to using up all of their collegiate eligibility.
Last season, 69 players were granted special eligibility for the 2023 NFL Draft. 13 underclassmen who had completed their college degrees were also deemed eligible to be selected.
The deadline to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft is on January 15. NFL teams will receive a full list of eligible players in the class on January 19.
