Jaxson Dart might not have been at Ole Miss for long, but the quarterback is already a supporter of all things Rebels sports. After Ole Miss infielder Tim Elko hit a home run in the third inning to put the Rebels up 4-0 on Oklahoma, Dart took to Twitter to share his excitement.

“CAP,” Dart wrote in his tweet.

Elko is commonly referred to as “Captain” because he is a three-year captain for the Rebels baseball team. He is also the school’s single-season home run leader, as Saturday’s homer marked his 24th on the season. He has 45 long balls throughout his career and is now just three homers behind all-time leader Kyle Gordon, who totaled 48 home runs from 1984-87.

Jaxson Dart transferred to Ole Miss this offseason after spending the first season of his college football career at USC. He played in six games total, finishing with 1,353 yards passing, nine touchdowns and five interceptions. His best game came on Sept. 18 against Washington State, as he threw for a season-high 391 yards and four touchdowns.

Dart ranked as the No. 4 quarterback according to On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings and has a chance to start for the Rebels next season. He is currently in a battle with Luke Altmeyer heading into the fall.

Ole Miss infielder Tim Elko delivers home run in CWS finals

Tim Elko made his presence known as captain of Ole Miss at the CWS Finals, delivering a solo home run to right field for his second run. After getting on base in the first inning with a single, Elko appeared to walk around gingerly by the base as if he had injured himself. The scare didn’t last long as he managed to take second base on a slide after a wild pitch right afterwards, before coming home for the first run of the game.

Elko didn’t take long to deliver at the plate again for Ole Miss, crushing a ball over the right field wall to open the third inning. The home run was Elko’s second run scored of the game and gave the Rebels a 4-0 lead early in the first game of the College World Series Finals.

The home run was Elko’s second of the CWS, making him the first player in school history to have multiple homers in a single CWS. Ole Miss putting up early offense is a great sign for their fans as their defense and pitching has been elite in the postseason so far. Ole Miss has only given up more than five runs one time in the NCAA Tournament and has three combined shutouts in the super regional and CWS.
