Lane Kiffin shares frustrations as Ole Miss struggles to piece together complete game
Ole Miss was the only SEC school to play out of the conference during Week 10, hosting former head coach Hugh Freeze and Liberty.
Head coach Lane Kiffin was happy with the result but was frustrated his team could not play a complete game. Ole Miss was not able to put the game to bed early after gathering a sizeable lead.
“I really thought it was going to happen,” Kiffin said. “I felt good about the week of practice. Even though we have all of these injuries on offense, with the way the game went in the first half I felt it was going to be that complete game you know, 48-7 or something, and it was heading that direction. We got out of rhythm, got some penalties on offense, and didn’t make some plays — a third-down drop — and all of a sudden, we’re in a game.
While Liberty was never a threat to win the game, it’s clear Kiffin was looking for a larger margin of victory than 13 points. Caden Costa’s 38-yard field goal in the third quarter were the only points the Rebels managed in the second half.
Prior to Liberty, two of Ole Miss’ three previous SEC wins were one-possession ball games. Add in a loss to Auburn and Kiffin will continue to look for his team to play a full, dominant four quarters.

Ole Miss trolls Hugh Freeze, Kiffin comments
After the game, the official Ole Miss Twitter account posted their final score tweet with the caption “If you have any complaints about this result, please email [email protected]. If not, please do not slander these young men or insult their family.”
This, of course, is in reference to Freeze’s infamous tweet while Ole Miss was being accused of offering financial incentives for players and recruits.
Kiffin commented on the incident during his post-game press conference, saying he is embarrassed by the Twitter account’s actions.
“I have no affiliation with the Ole Miss football Twitter site, even though it may sound strange, and I first learned about the tweets after my press conference when Keith Carter told me about them,” Kiffin said. “I’m completely embarrassed that anyone would put something out there like that making it look like it was a part of Ole Miss football. It was extremely disrespectful, bush league and classless, and I apologize, even though I had nothing to do with it, to Liberty and Hugh Freeze.”
