WATCH: Jaxson Dart throws first career Ole Miss touchdown
Lane Kiffin has made it known — there are big shoes to fill at quarterback for Ole Miss. Matt Corral helped the program reach new heights, winning 10 regular season games and making an appearance in a New Year’s Six Bowl. Now, Jaxson Dart has seemingly taken over, earning the start on Saturday vs. Troy.
Dart was able to hit a milestone in the second half, throwing his first career Ole Miss touchdown. The ground game is where the Rebels really excelled in the first half but now in the third quarter, Dart is on the board.

Lane Kiffin gives first half assessment of Jaxson Dart
Ole Miss did not officially name a starter for Saturday’s game after the quarterback competition throughout fall camp. Even so, Dart was the first guy to go out there and thus far, has been successful for head coach Lane Kiffin. The Rebels lead at halftime, 21-3.

Kiffin assessed the play of Dart heading into the locker room, saying the USC transfer has played “alright.” Not turning the ball over is a positive in the eyes of the head coach but he thinks Ole Miss’ defense has been more noteworthy.
“Well how about our defense?,” Kiffin joked. “Jaxson did alright. We haven’t turned the ball over and managed the game well. Our defense has played really well. That’s the story so far.”
Dart completed nine of 14 passes in the first half, throwing for 64 yards. Most of the offensive damage was done on the ground, specifically with the transfer running backs Ole Miss brought in this offseason.
