WATCH: Ulysses Bentley refuses to go down, scores first Ole Miss touchdown
Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss hit the transfer portal hard this offseason, especially at the running back position. Two new players entered the program for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, with Ulysses Bentley coming via the SMU Mustangs. Making his Rebel debut against Troy, he’s already made his presence known.
After Zach Evans marched down the field, Bentley got some touches inside the red zone. On third and goal, the running back went right up the middle and was seemingly tackled at the line of scrimmage. However, Bentley never touched the ground and spun free.

Bentley kept going, while everyone else stopped. He only had to run over one more Troy player to give Ole Miss their first touchdown of the 2022 season. The extra point was added to make it a 7-0 ball game.

Butterflies can be present on opening day, for any football player. But when you are entering a new season with a new program, nerves can run high. For Bentley, he immediately settled into the game on his first carry. While he will share carries with Evans throughout the season, Bentley’s account is now open in Oxford.

More on Ulysses Bentley, Ole Miss
Bentley was a late addition to the transfer portal, even with the staff at SMU leaving. While Sonny Dykes left for Fort Worth, the running back decided to head east and play in the SEC. Kiffin will never be afraid to add offensive skill talent to his roster and Bentley adds exactly that.
According to the On3 college player rankings, Bentley is the No. 37 running back in the country. Continuing to make amazing plays such as his touchdown and he could spin his way up the board throughout the season.
