Ole Miss wins without Lane Kiffin

Ole Miss impressed in Monday’s season opening win over Louisville, and the did it without head coach Lane Kiffin on the sideline.

Kiffin tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend and followed the game from home.

In the win, the Rebels’ offense showed it hadn’t missed a beat from last season. Quarterback Matt Corral went 22 of 32 for 381 yards and a touchdown, while rushing 55 more yards and another touchdown. Kiffin’s rushing attack gave Louisville trouble, as Snoop Connor ran for 60 yards and two touchdowns, Henry Parrish Jr. added 38 yards and Jerrion Ealy had a touchdown and 37 rushing yards himself.

Kiffin joked he’d stay home permanently after the win.

“They played like that without me on the road, I’m good with it. I’ll just stay here,” Kiffin said via postgame Zoom. “I’m already here; I don’t have to travel back. I can already watch Austin Peay film right now.”

Kiffin will be back on the sidelines for Ole Miss’ home opener on Saturday against Austin Peay State.
