Ole Miss receiver Jordan Smart, offensive lineman Cam East enter NCAA transfer portal

Ole Miss receiver Jordan Smart and offensive lineman Cam East have entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Both spent the last year with the Rebels.
Smart joined the program after transferring in from North Texas for the 2024 season. He appeared in just three games and redshirted.
During the 2024 campaign, Jordan Smart caught one pass for 34 yards. He did so in a game against Duke.
Cam East, meanwhile, spent the past three years with the Rebels. He appeared in two games in 2022 and redshirted, his first year on campus.
After that, East saw playing time in two games for Ole Miss during the 2023 season. However, he did not appear in a game during the 2024 season, prompting a move to the transfer portal.
Of the two, Cam East was the higher-rated prospect coming out of high school. Both players were three-star recruits.
East checked in as the No. 549 overall prospect in the country in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He also rated as the No. 33 offensive tackle in the class and the No. 27 overall player from the state of Louisiana, hailing from New Orleans (LA) St. Augustine.

Ole Miss adds transfer running back
While Jordan Smart and Cam East are headed out, another player is headed in. Former Troy running back Damien Taylor has committed to Ole Miss, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
He’s coming off a career-best season this past fall as a junior, putting up 1,010 yards on 173 carries, good for 84.2 yards per game at 5.8 yards per carry, with seven of his touchdowns. That made him Troy’s leading rusher, with one of their program’s better all-time rushing seasons, last fall and earned him the honor on the All-Sun Belt Second Team.
In all, Taylor has rushed for 1,386 yards on 248 carries, good for 38.5 yards per game and 5.6 per carry, while scoring nine touchdowns in his collegiate career there. He has also caught seven passes, two of those being for additional scores, for 28 yards receiving.
On3’s Barkley Truax also contributed to this report.
