Ole Miss stays hot on the recruiting trail, reels in Louisiana DB Anthony Robinson
Anthony Robinson has locked in his college commitment.
After taking finals trips out to check out Ole Miss, TCU and Notre Dame in the month of June, the top top-50 safety from Louisiana committed to the Rebels on Sunday.
Ole Miss won out for Robinson — the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 48-rated safety in the country out of New Orleans area powerhouse Destrehan (La.) High School — after years of courting the Swiss Army Knife defensive back. The Rebels were among Robinson’s first scholarship overtures as an underclassman, and the SEC program turned up the heat on the versatile safety ever since Pete Golding arrived in Oxford.
“Coach Pete and Coach (Wes) Neighbors have been pushing me the hardest … for sure,” Robinson told On3. “They’re texting me every day — if not, every other day for sure. I’m talking to them three or four times a week and they’re always checking in with me, with my family. We’re having regular conversations and I’ve heard from them often.”
“They have been pushing very hard and they’ve been talking to me every day,” added Robinson. “Coach Pete is one of the realest coaches I’ve run into my entire life. He’s a football mastermind and he’s put guys into the league year and year out. We have a cool relationship and he’s a funny guy, and I feel like I understand everything he says from a joking or a serious standpoint. Every year he’s had a first-round pick in the DB room — whether it’s at safety or corner, which is major because that’s my position. His coaching style is the same and he’s real with everyone on the roster and the defense he runs never changed. He puts everyone in the best position and gives everyone an opportunity to make plays.”
Ole Miss has been a staple in Robinson’s recruitment for years. The No. 11 player from The Boot in this cycle was on campus last fall and returned in the spring and again in June for another visit.

Golding, Neighbors, Lane Kiffin and an array of different coaches have been involved in bringing Robinson to the ‘Sip and giving him unique perspective on the program.
“Ole Miss offered me and they’ve definitely started to talk to me a lot more,” he explained early on. “I’ve been talking a lot to (Ole Miss). We’ve talked about my performances, they’ve been watching my film and like it, and even have mentioned the possibility of giving me carries on offense.”
“Lane Kiffin texted me,” Robinson continued. “He was telling me things about coming to a game and visiting, and it felt good to hear from the head coach. That’s the boss man and it felt good considering he’s the head coach. He follows me and has been following me and sending me things since September 1.”
The newest commitment in the Rebels’ class, Robinson checks in as the No. 493 overall recruit in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
