WATCH: Ole Miss strikes first in College World Series final as Kevin Graham drives in Tim Elko
The Ole Miss Rebels are off to a hot start in the College World Series final against Oklahoma on Saturday. The Rebels didn’t take long to score the first run, as Kevin Graham singled to bring in Tim Elko in the first inning.
Elko initially appeared to be injured after becoming the first Rebels runner to reach base. He was slow to reach the bag hobbled his way around afterward, but looked to shake it off and stole second base before making his way home on the Graham hit.
Graham would later go on to score the second run of the game after a fielding error allowed Kemp Alderman to get on base. Ole Miss will hope that Elko can stay healthy for the remainder of the College World Series. If he was hurt significantly, he certainly didn’t show it as he later went on to hit a home run in the top of the third to put the Rebels up 4-0.

“CAP,” Dart wrote in his tweet.
Elko is commonly referred to as “Captain” because he is a three-year captain for the Rebels baseball team. He is also the school’s single-season home run leader, as Saturday’s homer marked his 24th on the season. He has 45 long balls throughout his career and is now just three homers behind all-time leader Kyle Gordon, who totaled 48 home runs from 1984-87.
Jaxson Dart transferred to Ole Miss this offseason after spending the first season of his college football career at USC. He played in six games total, finishing with 1,353 yards passing, nine touchdowns and five interceptions. His best game came on Sept. 18 against Washington State, as he threw for a season-high 391 yards and four touchdowns.
Dart ranked as the No. 4 quarterback according to On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings and has a chance to start for the Rebels next season. He is currently in a battle with Luke Altmeyer heading into the fall.
