Report: Ole Miss third baseman Andrew Fischer entering NCAA Transfer Portal
Ole Miss third baseman Andrew Fischer is entering the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to Joe Doyle of FSS Plus. On3’s Pete Nakos reports that he has not officially entered as of Saturday afternoon.
Fischer hit 20 home runs last year in the SEC. And he’s also rated as a Top 100 prospect in 2025 according to Future Stars Series. Fischer was very productive in his only year with the Rebels, leading the team in hits, RBIs, total bases, and home runs.
Andrew Fischer was very productive this season
He became just the fourth Rebel all-time to hit 20 home runs in a single year, and he was the first Ole Miss player since 2007 to blast a home run in four straight games. Fischer brought home second team All-SEC honors in his lone season in Oxford. He played in 55 games this season, starting in all of them.
His loss would be massive for the Rebels, who missed the postseason for the second-straight year after winning the 2022 National Championship. Ole Miss would potentially lose their three most productive hitters from the 2024 campaign, if Fischer does decide to enter the portal. Jackson Ross and Ethan Lege are both out of eligibility.

Before joining Ole Miss, he spent a year with Duke, playing in 47 games, starting in 45 of those. Fischer exploded onto the scene as a freshman, earning second team freshman All-American honors. He also became just the sixth player in program history to be named to their All-ACC Freshman team for 2023. Fischer shattered the single-season home run record for a freshman at Duke (11 homers). He became just one of six players to rack up over 100 total bases for the 2023 campaign.
When he was with the Blue Devils, they posted a 39-24 overall record. They fell to the Virginia Cavaliers in the Charlottesville Super Regional, losing two of their three games. Duke won the first game 5-4, but lost Game 2, 14-4, and Game 3, 12-2. In the Conway Regional in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, they won three of their four games to advance to the Charlottesville Super Regional. Duke whipped Coastal Carolina 12-3 in the final game in order to advance.
As a high school prospect for Wall Township, he broke the high school single season (33) and career (65) walk record. Fischer earned a number of accolades, including PG Underclass All-American honors.
