Even after getting fired after less than a season as the head coach at Mississippi State, Zach Arnett is still taking flack — at least from the Bulldogs’ in-state rivals. After a 17-7 Egg Bowl victory on Thanksgiving evening, the Ole Miss social media and video teams shared a troll video with plenty of the former head coach.

The video, which was posted in response to a final score post from Mississippi State, takes a pass at not only Arnett, but also Bulldogs quarterback Will Rogers and a few other targets. The main knife turn is using some comments from Arnett at SEC Media Days before the season, followed by a meme of a man looking shocked.

“Simply put: Our fanbase has much to be proud of,” Arnett said in the video.

It also includes a screenshot of a Snapchat messaging conversation, apparently between Rogers and someone he was trying to meet up with — but it’s edited to show Rogers asking if the person wanted to come and lose the Egg Bowl.

And on top of shots at Starkville, Mississippi, cowbells, and a few other choice targets, the video even makes fun of someone for bragging that the Bulldogs have better looking grass than the Rebels, because nothing can’t be weaponized for the purposes of rivalry when the time comes.

Lane Kiffin on 2023 Egg Bowl win: ‘Appreciate it more once you’ve lost it’

Lane Kiffin and his Rebels didn’t screw around against Mississippi State and after defeating the Bulldogs 17-7 in the Egg Bowl on Thursday night, the Ole Miss head coach revealed what the victory means to him.

“It’s just really cool,” Kiffin told ESPN’s Cole Cubelic. ‘It’s one of those things that you appreciate it more once you’ve lost it. To have it back for our players, for our fans… I just want to thank God for the opportunity to coach these guys because it’s just really cool. Half these guys are brand new and just came in here, and to win 10 games awesome.”

Ole Miss fell 24-22 to Mississippi State in the rivalry game last season, missing a shot at overtime on a failed two-point conversion at the end of the game. And more than usual, for Kiffin at least, this year was personal. With the triumph, Ole Miss finishes its regular season with a 10-2 record, Kiffin’s second 10-win season in four years in the driver’s seat.
