3-star CB Patrick Broomfield commits to Ole Miss: 'I want to be the king of my city'
Ole Miss jumped to the top of the list for Clarksdale (Miss.) three-star cornerback Patrick Broomfield when the Rebels extended him an offer in late January. Following his latest visit to Oxford for the Rebels crawfish boil, Broomfield knew it was time to make it home.
Broomfield announced his commitment to the Rebels Saturday. He picked them over Arkansas, LSU and Oregon.
“I love the atmosphere, I love the bond we built outside of football and it’s in my city,” Broomfield told On3. “I want to be the king of my city and let the younger people know that you don’t have to go far to make it to the league. You can make it from your hometown.”
Broomfield visited Ole Miss for the first time last September and visited twice during the spring. Every visit he said he left feeling more and more confident about his future with the Rebels.
On top of that, Broomfield said the he hears from the Rebels constantly and that they’ve build a strong relationship with his parents as well
“I felt the love and it feels like home,” said Broomfield, the No. 894 player in the 2024 class. “I felt like a need there and not just a want. They talked to my parents as well and that showed me that it’s more than just about football. They’re gonna teach me how to be a man to develop me on and off the field.”
Relationship with Rebels coaches sealed the deal for Broomfield
There’s not a singular coach on the Rebels coaching staff that Broomfield said he would consider as a favorite over another.

He does text with Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin on a consistent basis and the two have built a strong relationship over the course of the last few months. Broomfield noted that Kiffin’s coaching style is something that really drew him to the Rebels.
“With Coach Kiffin, I just feel like they’re going to win,” Broomfield said. “They’re going to score a lot but he just needs the defensive guys to make the stops. He’s going to lead them to wins.”
Broomfield said he’s also excited to play for new Rebels defensive coordinator Pete Golding. Aware of what Golding did during his time at Alabama, Broomfield has high hopes for himself playing under a coach like Golding.
“I love Coach Golding,” Broomfield said. “I believe that he’s the kind of coach who can turn me into a first round pick.”
