Rece Davis predicts Ole Miss under 7.5 wins in 2023
Ole Miss is one of the more interesting programs in the SEC coming into this season. In particular, because there are some differences of opinion about how successful this season is going to be for Ole Miss. One person who thinks it might be a difficult season is Rece Davis.
The host of College GameDay explained that he thinks that Ole Miss is going to finish under its win total of 7.5 this season.
“Ole Miss win total at 7.5, they’re also at Georgia,” Rece Davis said while looking at the Ole Miss schedule. “I like Ole Miss. I’m gonna go under by a half, even though I think they could be pretty good.”
As Davis explained, the Ole Miss schedule is incredibly challenging. Not only do they have to take on the SEC West, Ole Miss drew Georgia out of the SEC East. On top of that, what should have been a relatively easy game against an AAC school on the road turned into a game against defending Cotton Bowl champion Tulane.
Roman Harper even predicted that Ole Miss will go winless in road games at SEC Media Days.
“They have a pretty tricky schedule, starting with a trip to Tulane, then to Alabama, they do have to go to Auburn, LSU at home,” Harper said. “They have the misfortune of drawing Georgia on the other side in Athens, which is a loss.”

Rece Davis does think that Ole Miss has a chance to be good this season. However, because of that schedule, he’s taking the under this year.
“I think they’re going to be pretty good and could still wind up 7-5,” Davis added.
Lane Kiffin on the play of the Ole Miss quarterbacks
One of the biggest questions that Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss need to answer going into the quarterback position. Recently, Kiffin broke down the play of those quarterbacks in Fall Camp.
“I thought quarterback play was really, really strong Saturday. I thought the week before, the defense in general had a really good Saturday. I thought this Saturday the offense did in both the passing and running game. A bunch more points, much more yards, higher average per carry. So I thought the quarterbacks did some really good things,” Kiffin said.
“The two older guys made a significant play they’d wanna take back but I saw some really good things and I think we’re in a great position of multiple guys that could go in the game and help us win.”
