Report: Ole Miss offense could be without key playmaker
Ole Miss is expected to be without a key contributor for an extended period of time. Wide receiver Jonathan Mingo reportedly has a broken foot and will be out indefinitely for Ole Miss. He will not play on Saturday against No. 1 Alabama, according to Mississippi’s WCBI Sports Director Jon Sokoloff.
Mingo has 15 receptions for 290 yards and three touchdowns in three games this season. All of those statistics place Mingo as the second most productive receiver on the Ole Miss offense.
The ESPN College GameDay crew also talked about Mingo’s reported injury on Saturday morning.
“Some news breaking from a reporter in Columbus, Mississippi, star receiver Jonathan Mingo has broken a foot and is out for this game for Ole Miss,” Rece Davis said on College GameDay. “Ole Miss doesn’t want to confirm it. Everything we’ve been told indicates that it is a true story.”
In his three-year career at Ole Miss, Mingo has 54 receptions for 841 yards and seven touchdowns. Last season, he set career highs with 27 receptions, 379 yards, and three touchdowns. Mingo was on pace to blow by his previous career highs this season for Ole Miss, but he will now be sidelined indefinitely with the injury.

Ole Miss takes on Alabama on Saturday
Ole Miss is currently 3-0 on the season with wins over Louisville, Austin Peay, and Tulane. The Rebels have been completely dominant on offense thanks to the strong play of star quarterback Matt Corral. But the toughest test of the season comes in Week 5 against Alabama, the top rated team in the nation.
The game between Ole Miss and Alabama is On3’s Week 5 Game of the Week. Corral has put up historic numbers in his three games this season. On the year, Corral has thrown for 997 yards, nine touchdowns and zero interceptions with 158 yards and five scores on the ground. As Corral looks to keep up his hot start as Ole Miss enters the SEC gauntlet, he will now be without one of his top playmakers in Mingo.
Alabama and Ole Miss are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
