Former Alabama and NFL star and current analyst for the SEC Network, Roman Harper joined the set of SEC This Morning ahead of the third day of SEC media days. There, he boldly claimed that Ole Miss won’t win a single road game in 2023.

As he explained, this prediction has less to do with Ole Miss and more to do with the competition.

“Ole Miss, I would not be surprised if they don’t win a road game this year,” Harper said. “It wouldn’t blow my mind…it’s just the schedule. It’s at Tulane, at Bama, at Auburn.”

Harper was cut off at this point by Chris Doering to clarify that he meant outside of the SEC too. Harper confirmed that he meant in all five of Ole Miss’ road games. That’s on the road at Tulane, who just won the Cotton Bowl, before taking road trips to Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, and Mississippi State this season.

“I guess I’d give them a Tulane win. But you’ve got to understand Tulane was in the SEC. They want to show everybody,” Harper said before it was joked about that the Green Wave haven’t been in the SEC for decades. “That’s exactly why they mad! That’s exactly why they mad!”

Harper went through the entirety of Ole Miss’ 2023 schedule, pointing out that home games against LSU and Arkansas won’t be easy either. Those lead into the Auburn road test.

“At Auburn, that game’s always tricky. Auburn always plays Ole Miss tough,” Harper said.

“Mississippi State’s gonna be much, much improved. Kevin Barbay on the offensive side. I really like what he did at App State. I like Zach Arnett and what he’s done with this defense over the years. They’ve got like 15 years of experience at linebacker. It’s a lot of guys who have been there a long time. They’re gonna be salty. I’m just looking forward to see how it plays out because they’ve got LSU early, we’re gonna know exactly who it is.”

Greg McElroy says Ole Miss is the most dangerous SEC team

One analyst who is looking at Ole Miss a little differently than Roman Harper is Greg McElroy. For his part, McElroy thinks Ole Miss is an incredibly dangerous team.

“Ole Miss, I really believe this, I think Ole Miss is the most dangerous team in the SEC,” McElroy said. “Nobody’s talking about them. They have improved, I think, on the defensive side of the football, just with who is going to be calling their defensive plays. So, I do think they’re going to have some leads. I do think there’s going to be some opportunities.”
