Tre Harris injury update: Lane Kiffin reveals it 'looked pretty bad' for Ole Miss WR
In the first half of Saturday’s game against Florida, it looked like Ole Miss WR Tre Harris aggravated the groin injury that kept him out the last few weeks. Speaking with ABC’s Molly McGrath at halftime, Lane Kiffin didn’t have much more information, but noted it didn’t look good.
Harris took a big hit in the second quarter on Saturday and limped to the locker room shortly thereafter. The play marked his second target of the day after hauling in a 43-yard touchdown earlier in the game as the Ole Miss offense started to break out.
If Harris can’t go, Kiffin said it’ll be a next-man-up mentality for Ole Miss. The Rebels have had to step up without their star receiver the last three games, which shows they’re prepared for the task.
“I don’t know any more than you do,” Kiffin told ABC’s Molly McGrath on his way to the locker room. “It looked pretty bad. We’ve got to have other guys make plays, and we’ve been doing that for four games without him.”
Harris is a key piece of the Ole Miss offense this season. Even despite his three-game absence, he still led the Rebels with 957 receiving yards to go with six touchdowns as Dart’s top target entering Saturday’s game. The 43-yard touchdown catch put him over 1,000 yards on the season.
McGrath reported the Ole Miss training staff heavily taped Harris’ hip and groin area in his return from the injury. That was the side he grabbed after taking the hit.

“Tre Harris immediately clutched the right side of his hip-groin area. That was the same side where he was injured against LSU,” McGrath said on the broadcast. “That right leg-hip area was heavily wrapped. You have to think he re-aggravated that injury.”
Ole Miss and Florida were tied heading into halftime of Saturday’s game at The Swamp. Jaxson Dart was impressive for the Rebels, completing 16 of 23 passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns through two quarters. But DJ Lagway also had a strong half for the Gators as he completed 6-of-9 passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns while making some big plays with his legs, as well.
Kiffin said Ole Miss knew it would have to contain Lagway, who’s one of the top young dual-threats in the country. That will be paramount in the second half if the Rebels want to avoid the upset.
“We’ve got to tackle this quarterback,” Kiffin said. “Their quarterback’s making huge plays, off-rhythm. We told them coming in, we’ve got to tackle him really well, and the guy’s made a lot of plays to keep this game where it’s at, and we missed a field goal.”
