Tulane QB Michael Pratt is a game-time decision vs. Ole Miss
Ole Miss could face a depleted Tulane squad this afternoon when the Rebels kickoff their road matchup vs. the Green Wave.
According to ESPN college football insider Pete Thamel, Tulane’s starting quarterback Michael Pratt could be out for the game with a knee injury he suffered in Week 1. Thamel reported Saturday morning it will be a game-time decision whether Pratt plays.
“Sources: Tulane star quarterback Michael Pratt is expected to be a game-time against Ole Miss,” he tweeted. “Pratt injured his knee late in the win over South Alabama. He’ll warm up and then a decision will be made.”
If the Tulane playmaker is down, expect another capable QB to step right in, says Thamel.
“If Pratt can’t play, Tulane is expected to start Kai Horton, a redshirt sophomore with some experience in big games. Last year, Horton came off the bench to rally Tulane to a 27-24 overtime victory against Houston with three touchdown passes.”
Lane Kiffin compliments Pratt
Tulane QB Michael Pratt opened his senior season with another performance that showed why he’s one of the nation’s better players at his position. Now, in New Orleans this weekend, he will be a problem to stop for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss.
Kiffin complimented Pratt during his press conference on Monday ahead of the Rebel’s Top-25 matchup with the Green Wave this weekend. He credited him for continuing to play like the veteran he is based on what he saw from Tulane’s opening win over South Alabama.

“The quarterback, basically, played as well as you can on air last week with one incompletion,” said Kiffin. “He’s very savvy, a veteran, sharp, accurate. A really good player.”
In Tulane’s 37-17 victory over the Jaguars, he finished 14/15 for almost 300 passing yards and four touchdowns. For those doing the math at home, over a quarter of his completions went for touchdowns while he also finished with a 93.3% completion rate. He ran for an additional 39 yards of offense too.
Kiffin has a quarterback of his own in Jaxson Dart who should make Ole Miss’ trip to Yulman Stadium into one of the better quarterback matchups of the weekend. Still, it’s going to fall more so on his defense to slow Pratt down if they want to start 2-0 on the year.
The Rebels and the Green Wave are set to do battle at a sold-out Yulman Stadium this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. ET and 2:30 p.m. CT.
