Ulysses Bentley IV is already making a big impact on the Ole Miss Rebels offense. Ole Miss added Bentley through the transfer portal this offseason after he played the first three years of his collegiate career at SMU. In the Rebels spring game on Saturday, Bentley didn’t wait long to put on a display showing off his ability as an offensive weapon.

In the first quarter of the spring game, red team quarterback Luke Altmyer rolled out to his right and found Bentley out of the backfield by the right sideline. The play began at the 45-yard line, and it looked to be a broken play even after Bentley hauled in the reception. But he instead eluded the two blue team defenders before cutting up the field, dashing up into the five and nearly scoring. The play officially went down as a 42-yard gain for Bentley.

Bentley took the next handoff to his left, rolling into the end zone for an easy score to extend the red team’s lead.

Following Bentley’s impressive drive, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin had a hilarious moment with former Rebels running back Snoop Conner, who is now preparing for the 2022 NFL Draft.

“I did, yeah,” Kiffin said. “I’m trying to get him to go work out harder later today, get ready for the draft and motivate him.”

Ultimately, Kiffin would like it if Bentley turned into a weapon similar to Conner for Ole Miss. And when looking at TCU transfer addition Zach Evans, he sees a lot of former Ole Miss running back Jerrion Ealy.

“I would like that,” said Kiffin. “They’re a little bit different. He’s probably a little bit more like Snoop. Ealy is really long, speed, which really Zach’s got more of a track., long speed background. So between all of them, that would be really good.”
