Former Washington offensive tackle Julius Buelow has committed to Ole Miss, via the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Buelow spent five seasons with the Huskies, making 31 appearances and 14 starts. In the 2023 campaign, Buelow played in 12 games, missing two contests due to injury. He started in nine of his 12 appearances.

Buelow was a pivotal piece to Washington’s front five, which won the Joe Moore Award this season, an honor annually presented to the best offensive line in college football.

Washington’s offensive line only allowed 12 sacks in 15 games this season, the fifth-least in the country. It isn’t a coincidence the Huskies averaged the second-most passing yards in the nation this year. Buelow was part of a mass exodus at Washington after Kalen Deboer left to become Alabama’s next head coach.

Julius Buelow played high school football at Kapolei (HI), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 316 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Buelow took his official visit to Ole Miss on Jan. 22. He visited the Rebels with fellow former Washington offensive lineman Nate Kalepo. Standing at 6-foot-8, 342 pounds, Buelow boasts professional size.

More on Ole Miss in the transfer portal

Ole Miss has been dominant in the transfer portal, boasting the No. 3 transfer class, according to On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings. Its additions are headlined by former Texas A&M defensive lineman Walter Nolen, who was the No. 1 player in the transfer portal.

During a recent appearance on Andy Staples On3OMSpirit’s Zach Berry discussed the Rebels bringing in one of the nation’s best hauls.

“The portal, it’s been Kiffin’s way of bridging that gap between the tier 1 SEC, the tier 1 national programs, to make not only Ole Miss relevant in a dark horse playoff team. To where now I think there is no dark horse anymore. They are a legit threat to the College Football Playoff,” Berry said.

Ole Miss finished the 2023 campaign with an 11-2 record, only losing to Georgia and Alabama. Ole Miss finished the season strong with a convincing 38-25 victory over Penn State in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

The Rebels finished No. 9 in the final AP Top 25 of the year. If they can produce similar success next season, they will land in the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff. At head coach Lane Kiffin’s current pace, the CFP is a likely reality.
