WATCH: Ben Mintz narrates Ole Miss hype video for Allstate Sugar Bowl
Of all the games slated for New Year’s Day, the showdown between Ole Miss and Baylor in the Allstate Sugar Bowl may be the best matchup. On Saturday night, Lane Kiffin’s Rebels will look to end their season on a high note at the expense of Dave Aranda’s Bears.
Prior to the all-important game, Ole Miss got their faithful fans ready with the oldest trick in the book — a hype video. For assistance, Ole Miss super-fan and sports media personality Ben Mintz was called upon.
“Don’t they say the best things in life are earned?” started Mintz. “Well, we’ve done our time. We’ve put in the hours. Think back to all the sweat you poured into the last couple of years. All the doubts, all the uncertainties. Well, you can kiss them all goodbye. Now, it’s time to party. What better place to do it than New Orleans, Louisiana.
“The Big Easy, The Crescent City, the birthplace of Jazz. Whatever you want to call it, the best Ole Miss seasons finish right here. With our fans filling up and our team lifting up that trophy.
“Now, get your mind right. You got one last ride with the boys. Make it worth it, and bring that trophy home.”
As an Ole Miss super-fan and after making his name with ESPN in Baton Rouge, perhaps no one is more qualified to help get the Rebels pumped for the Sugar Bowl. Now working at Barstool Sports, Mintz will for sure be riding with his Rebels — waiting for Ole Miss to lift the Sugar Bowl trophy.

Matt Corral on not opting-out of the Sugar Bowl: ‘It was just my teammates. … I never questioned it.’
Nowadays in college football, opting-out of bowl games has become commonplace for prospects entering the NFL Draft. However, Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral bucked the trend.
When asked about why he’s playing in the Sugar Bowl, Corral stated he never thought about not playing.
“I mean, it was just my teammates. … I never questioned it,” Corral said of his decision to not opt-out of the Sugar Bowl. “If I was them (Ole Miss teammates), in their shoes and they had a quarterback in the same position … I just couldn’t live with what they would think of me, like just leaving and just being like ‘alright that was the last game’ and nobody knowing that was the last game. The only reason why I say this is because no one really understands how close we really are.
“It just would’ve been the wrong thing to do. Just not playing and just holding out on them.”
Having Corral on the field will be great news for the Ole Miss offense in the Sugar Bowl. Corral put up big numbers over the first three weeks of the season, accounting for 14 total touchdowns in that stretch. He was an early season contender for the Heisman Trophy. Corral battled through injuries over the stretch run of the season, but he still remained an important part of the Ole Miss offense.
Baylor and Ole Miss will kick off at 8:45 p.m. ET on Saturday.
